The power of film in smart cities

The quality of life in modern society grows thanks to innovations aiming to make various components of cities “smart”: smart mobility, smart home, smart society, smart care, smart buildings, etc. The concept of a “smart city” is designed to optimize and innovate public services to increase efficiency of urban planning and architecture, thereby supporting a sustainable economic, social and cultural development. All this would not be possible without the use of plastics.

The 23rd Plastics Congress organized by TMP, "SMART CITY- Materials and Technologies for mobility and living", was held in Parma on November 15th.

Group M.A.M, a partner company in which DOMO Chemicals participates since February 2018, presented its innovative sputter-coated film solutions for solar protection and insulation of existing and new glazing systems, and for performance improvement of photovoltaics.

Window films are very thin, transparent multi-layer polyester films, that can be installed on existing glazing facing issues of heat, glare and/or UV (solar protection), or to protect against bomb blasts and burglaries (safety film).
Sputtered window films not only improve energy efficiency, but also support the environment, offering passive cooling. They strongly reduce CO₂ emissions from air conditioning and heating systems, and can improve the performance of photovoltaics. Beside for building and construction, Group M.A.M also provides solutions for extension of the driving range of electric vehicles.
