DOMO at Flock Symposium 2022 to present its performance fibers with enhanced biodegradability
On 24 March 2022 from 10:15 to 11:00 am at the 26th Flock Symposium, Florent Cottin, Marketing Manager at DOMO, will present one of DOMO’s “outside of the box” sustainable solutions that transforms synthetic polyamide 66 fibers into biodegradable materials once landfilled.
As the textile industry embraces sustainable development concerns, regulatory push and economic pull are driving manufacturers to seek ways to reduce their impacts on the environment and decreasing the amount of waste left to future generations.
The pollution generated by the textile industry has a huge impact on the planet, and the reasons are quite easy to understand. Clothing is probably the most common item that people buy in today’s world. In recent years, the average number of items of clothing purchased annually by individuals has increased drastically, ultimately leading to major environmental problems, such as water, air and solid waste pollution.
According to the Ellen Mac Arthur Foundation, more than 70% of end-of-life clothing is landfilled or incinerated. When landfilled (under anaerobic conditions), traditional synthetic materials like nylon 66 may take between 50 and 100 years to decompose. Compare this to DOMO’s polyamide 66 fibers with enhanced biodegradability, which may take less than five years to decompose.
DOMO is producing the only polyamide 6.6 fibers in the world offering an enhanced biodegradability while maintaining the standard characteristics of nylon 6.6 such as durability, long life, high tenacity, soft touch and abrasion resistance.
Like other biodegradable products, once landfilled, DOMO’s polyamide 6.6 fibers with enhanced biodegradability break down into organic matter (biomass) and biogas; both of these can then be exploited as new environmental resources as well as being used to cogenerate electricity.
What you will learn
- Why are our fibers with enhanced biodegradability sustainable? How does it help the environment?
- How does it work? What are the necessary conditions for its biodegradation?
- What could be the uses for the Flock industry?

Economic Times Global Conference on Plastics in Automotive 2021: DOMO Engineered Materials driving Indian automotive sustainable growth
Mobility today is a fast-moving sector being influenced by several key trends: high recycled content, lower CO2 emissions, lightweighting, electrification and connectivity. As this dynamic industry evolves, DOMO is presenting at this year’s Economic Times Global Conference on Plastics in Automotive 2021, on the future of transportation.
Tushar Parida, DOMO Engineered Materials Country Head India, will present ECONAMID, DOMO’s sustainable polyamide solutions, that offer the most extensive and high-quality recycled polyamide product portfolio available on the market today, supporting the automotive industry to reach their sustainability targets without compromising on quality.
Electric vehicles generate higher CO2 emissions in production than combustion engine models making the use of sustainable raw materials in EVs increasingly important. With its historical know how in the development of techno polymers based on secondary feedstocks, DOMO is the right partner for OEM’s willing to lead the race. Discover how at the Economic Times Global Conference, 25th November in Pune where DOMO is also a platinum partner.

UL webinar: Laser markable solutions by DOMO
Parts and component makers are increasingly relying on laser marking to identify plastic parts with a reference number, barcode or QR code. DOMO works closely with customers in the automotive and electrical & electronics industries, among others, to design the most suitable polyamide grades for laser marking. Join our webinar on 17 November at 2 pm CET on UL Prospector to learn more.
Marking manufactured goods with codes and designs has become a standard feature of modern production processes. Compared to traditional methods such as ink, sublimation and screen printing, laser-marking of plastics provides many benefits:
• Excellent image quality without surface contact
• Improved quality of details
• Increased design flexibility
Laser marking is very common in the electrical and electronic segment, where customers need solutions that are laser-markable with multiple techniques. Multi-colored marking requires deep formulation expertise, as the final solution generally consists of a sophisticated mix of pigments and additives.
At DOMO, we are equipped with different laser marking systems for testing our formulations. This allows us to develop materials that precisely fit our customers’ needs. Take part in this webinar to learn more about our laser-markable product family.

PCIAW Summit: Nylon 6.6 fibers with enhanced biodegradability from DOMO
As the textile industry embraces sustainable development concerns, regulatory push and economic pull are driving manufacturers to seek ways to reduce their impacts on the environment and decreasing the amount of waste left to future generations. DOMO Chemicals has developed solutions that transform synthetic nylon 6.6 fibres into biodegradable materials once landfilled.
DOMO Performance Fibres is using Amni Soul Eco® Technology, developed by the Solvay group, produced and distributed by DOMO Performance Fibres, by applying and dispersing specific additives in the polyamide 6.6 matrix to bring an enhanced biodegradability to its fibers while maintaining the standard characteristics of nylon 6.6 such as durability, long life, high tenacity, soft touch and abrasion resistance.
As demonstrated by laboratory biodegradation tests in accordance with ASTM D5511*, fibers using Amni Soul Eco® biodegrades in around 5 years after disposed of properly in landfills, compared to more than 50 years for synthetic fibers in general.
Like other biodegradable products, once it is in the landfill, DOMO Performance Fibres using Amni Soul Eco® technology, breaks down into organic matter (biomass) and biogas; both of these can then be exploited as new environmental resources as well as being used to cogenerate electricity.
Take part in this conference at PCIAW Summit on November 2d at the Hilton London Metropole in London to learn more about our nylon 6.6 fibres with enhanced biodegradability.
