Jan De Clerck, President of DOMO Chemicals, opened the tree planting operation: “By planting these 250 trees today in Central Germany, I am proud to be able to contribute to a sustainable and highly symbolic sign of environmental protection along with our partners IPAT and all DOMO colleagues”.
DOMO Chemicals has been supporting the IPAT tree-planting organisation in Halle since 2014. They share a common interest in improving the CO2-balance with trees, which are natural carbon dioxide absorbers and oxygen generators. Under this cooperation, the company donated 3,500 trees in August 2015 for the new project area in Kobschütz near Zwenkau. IPAT obtained this area from BELANTIS with a total size of 68ha and is planting a public forest with pines, larches and black alders.
“With this partnership, the idea of sustainability exists not only on paper but is really lived by the employees”, according to Michael Bahr, director of I Plant A Tree. Bahr also emphasised the important collaboration with DOMO Chemicals. Because the donations are not directly tied to the tree planting, operating costs can also be covered.
The DOMO Sustainability Day is a consistent step in the company’s sustainability strategy: As part of its annual objectives, at its German locations in Leuna, Premnitz, DOMO Chemicals is continuously working on reducing energy and material consumption and consequently its CO2-emissions. DOMO Chemicals is certified according to the international environmental management standard ISO 14001 and energy management standard ISO 50001. With its product Econamid, DOMO Chemicals is distributing a product range that is made entirely from recycled Nylon 6 and 6.6.
